Company

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) is a public agency of the City and County of San Francisco that provides water, wastewater, and electric power services to the city and an additional 1.9 million customers within three San Francisco Bay Area counties.

The opportunity

San Francisco is known for innovation and design. In 2019, the SFPUC saw an opportunity to take city infrastructure, education, and planning, in a new direction. I was tasked with creating a system that would allow us to 3D model and animate existing structures under the street and display them in full 1080p video as well as VR. This tool would be used for wet weather training within the waste water sector of the public utilities commission, and would allow for greater resolution on infrastructure planning.

Feeling fulfilled by contributing to meaningful change in the City of San Francisco's sewage system and spearheading initiatives to reduce flooding is a source of immense satisfaction. Witnessing the tangible impact of these efforts, from improved infrastructure to enhanced resilience against environmental challenges, brings a profound sense of accomplishment. Knowing that these endeavors positively impact the lives of residents and contribute to the overall well-being of the community serves as a powerful motivation to continue striving for progress and innovation in urban development and environmental sustainability.
